Small Child, Stomach Pain, Vomiting, Light Bowel Movements. Cause Of Worry?

My son, 4, had stomach pains saturday, eventually vomitted that night a couple of times and seemed better the next day. Started with stomach pains again Tuesday night, and had a very light colored bowel movement . Woke up the next morning with very light colored diarrhea , which continued through the day. He had very little energy. Woke up today seeming better, but now back to very little energy and lots of light stool . Is the color of the stool something to be concerned about?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Whitish stool usually indicates lack of pigment in the stool. Such pigment is nothing more than bile which changes from yellow to brown color due to intestines bacteria action. Such lack of bile in the stool means that the bile ducts are obstructed or the liver does not produces the bile. Abdominal pains and vomiting can indicate gall stones or viral liver infection. You should take your son to the doctor for diagnostics. Abdominal ultrasound, liver tests (AST,ALT,GGTP,AP), amylase, bilirubin, urine analysis, HBV and HCV antibodies level should be performed.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
