Hi,
yes, It is normal to have cough for a longer time with bronchitis than ordinary chest infection. You have to finish the course of medicines prescribed and then meet the pediatrician to decide the follow up medicines. Good luck,God bless

General & Family Physician Dr. Nsah Bernard's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your post.
From your description it shows that there is a amelioration. You should expect acute bronchitis to last upto a couple of weeks, not more than a month. Your treatment did not include any antibiotics. Generally, acute bronchitis is caused by viruses but can also be as a result of bacteria. If the bronchitis persist within a couple of days, I'll suggest to visit his pediatrician. Antibiotics may need to be started.

Hope this helps

Pediatrician, Cardiology Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jain's  Response
Hello
In case of sudden onset of coughing in a small child foreign body must be ruled out. Your physician has examined the child and diagnosed him as a case of bronchitis. In bronchitis cough is the main symptoms and it may take few weeks to subside completely.
So I would suggest you to continue the medications and if condition worsened like vomiting following cough or blood mixed sputum then consult your doctor immediately.
