Hi.
Thanks for the query.
Its common for babies to have constipation while weaning... more so for breast fed babies who have had very good stool movement during breast feed.

Try to establish fixed and routine feeding times to create a good bowel movement. Introduce boiled and mashed carrots, boiled , peeled and mashed apples, homemade orange juice with safe boiled and cooled water added. Gradually introduce all vegetables which are made at home one at a time so that the child develops a taste for everything. Start giving bananas, any variety, a little bit every day.
All the above food items are rich in fibre content and will aid in easy passage of stool. Last but not the least, give plain boiled and cooled water as a weaned baby needs more fluids than a purely breast fed one.
As of the moment, if your child is struggling to pass stool, apply a little pure coconut oil in the anal region to lubricate the area and allow the baby to pass stool easily. Thereafter, by following the above dietary changes, your baby should be fine.
Happy Parenting. bye
