Hello and welcome to HCM
The presence of a bald spot on top of the head along with itchind and scab indicates a fungal infection
of the scalp. Otehr causes of hair loss are psoriasis
etc however itching is not present in these cases.
Fungal infection of scalp is common and called Tinea capitis
. It is caused due to poor hygiene, prolonged wet skin and minor injury on the scapl.
It leads to temporary loss of hair which regrow once the infection is treated.
However, please visit your GP/ dermatologist
The infection needs to be confirmed by skin scraping and/ or hair shaft examination.
Treatment is by topical application of anti-fungal cream.
Thanks and take care
