Slow Healing On Fractured Finger, Injured Finger Seems Weak, Bones Seem To Be Movable. Reason?
I fractured my fourth left finger weeks ago, in which by now it was supposed to be healed, I was given a splint in which im wearing. I believe I compressed it or hurt it a little, while I had the splint and while the finger was in recovery, this was after the fracture. The injured finger seems weak and I can move the bones with my other fingers. Is it worse? Why isnt it healed?
Normally the fracture takes about 6 weeks to heal . During this period if the fingers have been properly strapped or nicely tied with a finger cot with EXTENSION BAR, then there should be no reason as to why fracture should not heal even at 6 weeks. Please do repeat an x ray and get it seen by an orthopaedic surgeon. If he feels everything is in position and healing is good then there is nothing to worry about. If healing is slow as in old age then it can be supplemented with calcium tablets. do continue to wear the splint until the fracture is fully radiologically healed.
