Sinus drainage, bumps on tongue, throat pain, difficulty in swallowing. Could this be strep or sinus infection?

Hi. For about 2 days now I have had sinus drainage that is worse at night . This morning i noticed many bumps on my tongue starting about half way going down as far back as I can see. When I wake up my throat hurts quite a bit bit throughout the day it doesn't hurt as much. Does slightly hurt when swallow but again mainly right when I get up. The bumps are a good size and appear to be pinkish to a little reddish in color. Could it be strep or sinus infection or something worse?

Hello dear,

The symptoms can be attributed to Pharyngitis.
Management includes:
1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain.
2. Analgesics like paracetamol
3. Antibiotics depending upon culture & sensitivity reports to remove the causative organism.
4. Antihistamine preparations can also be used to provide symptomatic relief.

If symptoms still persist...it will be better to consult an ENT specialist.
Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.

Wish you good health.
Take care.
