Sinus Problem, please suggest

Hi I am a 37 yr old female...smoker...tea other illnesses. Intermittent neck ache but have 2 ruptured/dehydrated discs in my spine (1 at L5/S1 and one upper chest level) so probably something to do with them. For the last 10 weeks my cheeks have been burning hot - mainly in the afternoons - they are not red though. Sometimes i have a low grade fever of about 37.1, sometimes i don't. Very often my neck gets very hot too - strangely my feet also go bright red in the shower and feel hot too and I have never suffered with hot feet. This only seems to happen when I am indoors - outside I do not feel hot. It often starts when i go home from work so i wonder if something in the house is aggravating it I also get a chapped line around my lips when I get hot and my cheeks sometimes feel a bit prickly. I get hot eyes and sometimes have little hot spots on top of my head. I have a back tooth where the root lies in the sinus cavity and as i had toothache and earache my doctor thought the root was aggravating the sinus cavity so gave me antibiotics in case it was infected. I ended up having 6 courses of antibiotics (flucloxacillin, doxycycline, metronidazole etc, which got rid of the earache but not the burning cheeks and other symptoms I have fluid running down my throat a lot of the time - assuming from sinus - and my tongue has a horrid yellow coating on it (using oraldene mouthwash for this) Some days i feel so awful and often feel 'swimmy' in my head I now have a steroid nasal spray but dont think its helping Hot shower every day to steam sinuses which sometimes seems to stop me getting hot and makes me feel better I sometimes get itchy bumps on my face and right ear when the cheeks heat up Had bloods done and the only thing of note was potassium level raised at 5.6 - my thyroid, hormones, crp, u's & e's and blood count were done Neck aches regularly and sometimes i have headaches but no facial pain so that's part of the reason i am not sure if my sinuses are to blame Some days i feel like some of my muscles are a bit twitchy too and i have the urge to tense them although this is not often Have been referred to hospital to have tooth removed as it is cracked - got to have it taken out surgically as it is most likely invading the sinus cavity and has a bent root which they are afriad may snap off and wander off into sinus cavity Don't want to suffer for weeks or months until this is done. I do suffer from mild anxiety and this just makes me feel more stressed knowing i will feel horrible every day Driving me potty - any suggestions?

From the description you have made it is not very prominently leading to sinus problem as you are not having any frontal headache etc. More so it appears to be post. nasal drip with chronic coryza. You have not mentioned about hormonal functioning as hot flushes can be attributed to it.There is imbalance of pit and kaph as ayurveda leads us.The thick coating over tongue could be due to disturbed intestinal flora. I would suggest you to have Mahalakshami vilas ras swarn yukat one bd for ten days and report back.

Thank you so much for replying

I did have my hormones tested and they were fine - i do not get flushing as such, i do not sweat and there is no redness in my face - just a very hot sensation around my jawline and cheeks

I do not understand about Ayurveda - could you explain further?

Is there an english alternative for Mahalakshami vilas ras swarn yukat?

Also i do not have nasal congestion but my voice does sound like i have so maybe the congestion is further back in my deeper sinus?

Ayurveda is indian system of medicine which offers cure with herbal medicines. Substitute may not be possible but i can advice you on this matter. increase your bodily immunity with herbal immuno boosters. indian gooseberry is leasding most in them. Have a cup of milk with one fourth spoon of turmeric in it. this will add immunity against recurrent coryza. cinnamon added to honey will offer good cure. munchinig of basil leaves also helps to cure it.

Thank you again for your reply - very much appreciated

I will try the thingss you have suggested

It is interesting that you mentioned coryza as when i looked it up it can be aggravated by problems with neck muscles - which i do have and this can cause heat in the head and neck so i will see my chiropractor and see if he can also help

There is a product known as 'echinacea' which is a herbal remedy to boost the immune system - i do not know if you are familiar with it but i will try it

Also can u suggest any remedies to balance intestinal flora?

Thank you again so much
