Sick With Flu, Sore Throat, Loss Of Appetite, Tiredness. Had Jaundice. Help?

my daughter is 16 and 3 months ago was sick with flu like symptoms. Started with sore throat, loss of appetite, throwing up and very tired. She ended up in emergency room because she was itching so bad and her eyes were jaundice . They said it was hepatitis because liver enzymes were elevated. After weeks of blood test the last one came back normal. I thought she recovered until a month later the symptoms started over the same way. Ultra sound came back fine, bilirubin was fine, liver counts slightly elevated and she is itching like crazy for weeks and now has unexplained bruising with no rash.

hi there, your daughter seems to be suffering from some disorder of the liver or the blood wherein too much of unconjugated bilirubin is being released into her blood stream causing the itching. Liver derangements are known to cause bruising as the clotting time of blood gets delayed. This unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia could be due to prehepatic causes like excessive hemolysis of blood or could be due to hepatic cause wherein the liver is not able to process the bilirubin properly. Either ways it is a serious condition especially with bleeding and clotting disorder and it will need to be addressed properly and treated accordingly. she will require specialist attention and so do not wait but take her to the physician and get her evaluated accordingly. Take care.
