Shoulder Pain, Worsens During Movement In Certain Areas, Used Icepack

I am a 22 year old female and I have a severe ache in the middle, back of my left shoulder . It is a burning pain which is made worse by movement but only in certain directions. I have tried using an icepack on my shoulder and using Fastum gel. It does lessen the pain but does not get rid of it fully I do not have any recent injury. I have no history of injury to this area

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your querry.

After reading your symptoms, i feel that you have developed a non specific pain in your shoulder region. Such pains need to be addressed by physiotherapy.
I would recommend you to visit a physiotherapist as he will tell you certain exrcises as well which will ease your pain.
Till the visit you can continue with the ice pack as well as an analgesic gel.
These are not long term pains and get healed relatively fast.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hello aileen,

Thanks for posting your query

Severe pain in your back of left shoulder may be due to a local cause in shoulder or it may be a refered pain from some other region of body.

In local causes it may be due to impingement syndrome, frozen syndrome etc.

So you have to visit an orthopaedic surgeon for detailed clinical examination & x-ray & some inv. as required.

Regards
