Should the pancreas be scanned while suffering from liver cancer?

i have been diagnosed with primary liver cancer one year ago; has been ablated twice but recurred for third time 3/21/18; also now appearing was two cm lymph node which was biopsied and report says it is a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. I am being referred for chemo treatment plan. I also have cirrhosis. 2 questions; Shouldn t surgical removal of lymph node be considered first ? Should I have a pancreas scan right away? Bob

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would advise you to do CT scan of upper abdomen.
Also, removal of lymph nodes followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy is recommended.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

My Dr wants me to have a scan of my liver lobe? I have elevated enzymes. I have gained about 12lbs since my last visit and I am about 35 BMI. Could the elevated enzymes be the result of my exceptionally fat ass or should I be worried about cancer? I just turned 46.

Hi, My Mom was diagnosed with liver cancer. They tried to operate and remove the left lobe that had a tumor but found it spread to the duct area and it was too risky to try to remove. They now give her 2 months to 1 year with or without treatment. She s having chemo treament once a week for 3 wks/1 week off/ then 3 more weeks and then scans to see how the cancer is responding. This cancer did not masticize from somewhere else. My concern now is that she s been really tired, which I guess from the chemo, but have been reading it s the liver cancer symtom also. Her legs just strarted swelling TERRIBLY and hurt her. They have blister s on them, too. Is that a symptom??? She s taking water pills but isn t peeing like she should - hardly. Is THAT a symptom too that her kidneys are failing? Also, her coloring is good and she still has her appitete. What PHYSICAL conditions are we to expect as her health continues to decline? Thank you.
