Should The Acid Reflux Medication Be Changed?

I suffer from moderate to severe Reflux from time to time and am currently on the medication Pariet proton pump inhibitor 20mg. This medication appears to work the majority of time however at this point in time I am suffering from another attack of reflux and the pariet appears to have no effect. Would you reccommend changing medication ?

Hello,

You are using best antacid for reflux that is Rabeprazole tablet. So, do not worry about that. Rule out a Hiatus hernia like case if present by endoscopy.

If needed, a Barium study x-ray can be done. If the underlying cause present, then treats it accordingly. Avoid excess spicy foods, the head should be elevated while sleeping, and go to sleep for two hours after a meal daily. Also, consult a gastroenterologist for the examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
