Should Mammogram Be Done For Echogneic Cyst Or Benign Fibroadenoma?

I have had an breast MRI as I have had a breast reduction five years ago. The doctor oriinaly suggested a mammogram as well. When I rang breast screen SA they reminded me that it is only necessary every two years. The report mentions all ok if not still a little glandular tissue. Also a upper outer quadrant on the left laterally nodule of 5 x 3mm had the appearance of an echogenic cyst or benign fibroadenoma. should I persisit with a mamogram?.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
The mammography has revealed a benign lesion in the breast- cyst or a fibroadenoma.
Both these lesions are benign and conversion into malignant lesion is very unlikely.
However, any lesion in the breast needs to be removed surgically.
An aspiration cytology needs to be done to confirm the benign nature of the lesion.
When confirmed, the lesion can be removed surgically.

Thanks and take care
