Should I Worry About A Knot At The Injection Site?

I just had a blood withdraw to check my PT-INR. Im on blood thinners due to a mechanical heart valve replaced 2 1/2 years ago. Im 41 6'2" 196 lbs. After the withdraw my arm has a knot that is sore right at the place they poked the needle. Is this something I should worry about

Hi. You have a hematoma or blood collection at the site of the blood sampling. This is most likely due to your blood thinner medication and is a common problem. Dont worry about it, it also means your blood thinners are working fine. You can apply Thrombophob or Heparin ointment over it and apply Crepe bandage over the swelling and some anti-inflammatory medication for the pain and swelling like Paracetamol 500mg twice daily or Ibuprofen 400mg twice daily. Take care.
