Should I Be Worried About Prominent CSF Density Structure In The Posterior Fossa And Mastoiditis Found Through CT Scan?
CT scan showed "prominent CSF density structure in the posterior fossa" and ER physician recommends MRI and neurology consult. That consult is scheduled, but in the meantime, we are worried parents. Possibly significant, child has had chronic ear infections (tymph tube came out 12years ago; hole never closed) and CT showed mastoiditis.
A CSF density structure in the posterior fossa is most likely a cyst (arachnoid) but other conditions must be ruled out by further imaging. There are common and rarely occurring types of cystic lesions in the posterior fossa. DO not be afraid to take further guidance from a neurologist after a MRI scan.
