Should I Be Concerned About Small Intermittent Bruise On The Top Of My Right Leg?

Hi, i have a small intermittent bruise on the top of my right leg and i just wanted to check would it be anything to worry about. Its been there a few months now. It keeps coming and going in what seems like the same place all the time. I have not had any trauma there except for a crushing accident i had 10 years ago causing pain in the hip but mainly the left side. I had a THR on the left side in 2002, and a 3 level lumbar fusion in 2006. Thanks a million, sinead.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It may be ecchymosis. If you are above fifty, may be due to age ...also called senile purpura. Do not worry. It is due to increased fragility of wall of capillaries caused by ageing process. Take vitamin C tab in high doses.

Hope this helps.
