Should A Splinter Which Visibly Protrudes On X-ray Be Removed?

My friend sustained a stabbing injury to her left hand which led to the medial shaft of the middle phalanx of the middle finger being cut, leading to a splinter which visibly protrudes on x-ray. She had the wound debrided at St George s hospital, and the surgeon attempted to remove the splinter, but this was done under local and due to pain difficulty of procedure it was not completed. The surgeon is now saying it is not necessary. Do you think she should have a second opinion from another hand specialist and if so how can this be done.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
Splinter in the hand should be removed because any foreign body in the body is the major cause of infection and more over it may affect the bone healing and in long term cause bone pathology. So its my advice to consult a good hand surgeon and get it removed as soon as possible.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
