Should A Shrunken Tonsil Require Urgent Medical Care?

I have a swollen sub-mandibular lymph node that is tender, the MD put me on antibiotics for an infection, but I am concerned because I have always had large tonsils and now the tonsil on the affected side is shrunken by at least 50%. Is this something to get checked out further?

Hi,

It is not a medical emergency and does not require any further treatment.
However you can seek help from an ENT specialist for an expert opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
