Should Xalatan Eye Drops Be Applied In The Evenings For Better Results?

I have recently been prescribed xalatan eye drops for glaucoma. Could you please tell me the best time to apply the drops and why. The ophthalmologist didn t specify a time of the day, but I have since been told they are more affective in the evening. Thanking you in anticipation, Louise McMahon.

I can well understand your concerns. You have asked a very logical question.
Latanoprost(xalatan) is a good drug to reduce eye pressure. Its more effective if used in the evening. Because reduction of the eye pressure(IOP) starts approximately 3 to 4 hours after administration and the maximum effect is reached after 8 to 12 hours, that means it is to make your day easier,your vision clear and no pain and pressure whole day long when you need it the most. If you take eye drops at day time, you will have better eyes at night, i.e when you dont need it the most.
Dont exceed the recommended dosage of 1 drop in affected eye. If you miss a dose don't double dose. Missed is missed. Restart it over.
