Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i recently had shingles approx 12 days ago the rash appeared and i took medicine beginning with a V sorry can t remember the name and now feel better. went to see a podiatrist about a foot inflammation and he put me on methylprednisolone for the inflammation which i used for 1.5 days now but i feel an intense itching burning after taking, i checked on line but it says not to take this medicine if you have chicken pox or shingles, i didn t know and didn t think to tell the pediatrist i had just finished a course of pills for shingles? Should i discontinue the methyl.. at once and should i take again something for shingles as it says i may have lowered my immune system by taking it, I m not sure just by one day if thats true but i don t want to bring the shingles back but it says i can t just quit Meth... without serious side effects, now I m really worried?? please help????
I will advise you to stop methylprednisolone as it can cause flare of shingles. Visit a skin specialist for a clinical examination and better medicines.
