I wouldn't worry. If it is twice the normal heart rate then I would worry. If it gets to 100 beats per sec, you should see a doctor. I don't think it is life threatening but you should check it out if it gets worse. Also, caffeine can cause these heart arrhythmias so if you drink a lot, you might want to cut down a bit.

I am a 24 and a half year old white female with 3 children ages 4 and under. My heart rate is normally on the higher side when I am pregnant and that s pretty much the only time I ever check it. But I ve been checking it a lot the past few days and every time it s been between 101-109bpm. Even after just waking up after sleeping. Sometimes I do feel like my heart is racing. Is this something I should get checked out by a doctor?

Hello, I am 15 years old. A few weeks ago I was feeling really ill. My symptoms were feeling tired all the time, loss of apatite, a chesty cough and feeling weak. After a while I was getting rather worried after realising my heart was beating very fast. I felt myself waking up in the middle of the night and having to calm down my breathing. I decided to get myself checked out by a doctor and apparently i was badly dehydrated and I had bronchitis. I was put on a drip and was given antibiotics... a few weeks have passed and most of the symptoms have gone accept my heart beating. I wondered if maybe the doctor might have missed something? Should I be worried? Thank you

I feel like my heart is racing quite a bit and now my lips are tingling/numb. It just started racing this afternoon although I have noticed it fluttering a little due to too much synthroid which has been reduced. I have hypothyroidism which seems to fluctuate from time to time (sometimes a LOT), sometimes with my menstrual cycle. Should I be worried or am I just overreacting to stress?

Hi, My wife had a dermoyd cyst removed a few year ago and with it her left ovary. Every since then, she has had a really hard time during her period. Lately, she has experienced a rapid heart rate. She is 23 years old and 105lbs. Generally healthy but she is a smoker. She rarely drinks alcohol and doesn't do any drugs. Her water intake is good as is her diet. She doesn't feel any stress, although, our life is rather stressful. She is anemic and has low blood pressure and her heart rate averages around 100bpm during her period. Is this something we should worry about?

I have had a thudding heartbeat for two days, off and on, mostly on. Also accompanied by shortness of breath. The heartbeat isn't fast or irregular, but I can feel it, like it's heavy in my chest. I've had this before a few years ago, and my doctor thought it was anxiety and wanted to out me on an anti anxiety drug, but I felt like it was a physical issue instead of anxiety. I have low stress, not usually anxious, work out a few times a week, non smoker (for 5 years) recently lost about 35 lbs (1-1/2 years ago) Could this be allergies?
