Should I Use My Nuva Ring In Spite Of Absent Period?
I have been on Nuva Ring for about 4 years and my period is pretty regular. I use it correctly, putting it in the same time every week etc. The last 2 months I haven t got my period when I take the ring out. I ve taken a boat load of pregnancy test and all are negative. I m scheduled to start back on the ring tomorrow, should I continue to use the ring as prescribed or wait until I get my period to finally start!? I would really like to get my period because I feel like I m more moody and been having cramps! I have been eating healthier and in return been loosing weight so I m thinking that s why my period is a no show! Any advice?
I would advise not to place the NuvaRing as you have not got your periods for the past two months. Take a pelvic scan to rule pregnancy out or you can also do a serum Beta HCG test. After ruling out pregnancy, under direct prescription, you can tablets for withdrawal bleeding. After you get your regular period, you can place the NuvaRing. Until then, you can be on any birth control pill, or emergency pill in case of unprotected intercourse.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
