Should I Undergo ACL Reconstruction Surgery For Chronic Partial ACL Tear?

I was diagnosed with a chronic partial acl tear. In the operative report it states that there was a bulge and obvious avulsion of the acl. It also said that there was an absence of the ligamentum mucosa. One Dr. said I should have acl reconstruction another said don t worry you are all good. I should preface this with the fact that I am a corrections officer and rely on stability in my legs to do my job. Any opinions?

Hello,

I will go with the opinion of the first orthopedist. as leaving the ACL injury like this will land you in the OA knee earlier.

To avoid the early OA or in detail, if mentioned the degenerative changes will occur faster due to non-stability of the joint and it will even damage the internal structures of the knee.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
