If you are going in for a heart cath, I have to assume that they have already determined that you need it; I don't think a stress test will tell them anything new... or at least nothing they won't find when they do the cath itself.
In the weeks *AFTER* the cath, they will probably want to run a stress test to see how much things have improved.

today ekg showed anterior/lateral ischemia. 6 mos ago normal, my pcp told me he read my strfess test from 6 mos ago, and thinks I should talk to a cardiologists about a heart cath...i m74 M; end stage renal disease ready for dialysis should I rush into a heart cath with contrast?
had a nuclear stress test (because of bad knees) dr. said i had had a heart attact. then saw my cardiologist who had the results of previous stress test (also nuclear from about 5 years ago) said he did not see much difference in the two but did an EKG which showed normal but decided to do EEG which was abnormal so did cartiac cath which showed no heart attack and no blockage. Dr. said showed a shadow on my heart. he said no problem -- is this anything i should be concerned about?
