Have been diagnosed with pneumonia based on medical regular consultation Should I have asked for an X-ray jut to know the severity of it. I am currently taking antibiotics Levaquin 500 mg 1 per day, Robitusin cough syrup, Redoxon 1g Efervescent, Tylenol Sinus and Cold. Is any specific diet recommended/helpful - like red meet, fish...?! I am female age 57 generally in very good health and like to be active - Hate resting in bed!
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation. I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Chest x ray 2. Sputum culture and sensitivity. Pneumonia should not be diagnosed with out chest x ray. Chest x ray is must for the diagnosis of pneumonia. Consolidation on chest x ray is the hallmark feature of pneumonia. So chest x ray is must. First step in the treatment of pneumonia is to identify the causative organism. So sputum culture and sensitivity should be done in your case. This will helpful in guiding antibiotic therapy. So better to consult pulmonologist and start appropriate treatment of pneumonia. Haphazard use of antibiotics will delay the recovery and increase drug resistance.
