Should I Continue Small Meals For Lifetime Post Hernia Repair?

Hi. 10 days ago I underwent Nissen Fundoplication and hernia repair. I have been on the liquid and soft food diet since then. I eat about 6 very small meals a day and I get full very fast. My biggest fear is to have the wrap come undone. I limit my fluids to 12 oz at a time. Will I need to continue these very small meals for life? Its not a problem, I just want to give myself every effort to not have to repeat this surgery. Thanks for your consult. Caroline W

Hello,

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr Aimen Nasir. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

After the hernia operation we just avoid anything that causes strain either it be:
● Constipation
●Cough
● Weight Lifting
● Obesity
so to avoid all these things it is important after that You should eat healthy in small portions and can take 5-6 small meals that should contain good amount of dietary fibers and take plenty of fluids 8-10 glasses of water daily. By eating healthy your weight will be controlled and constipation issue wont be there as well.

I hope this answered your question, and
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Regards.
