Should I Be Worried For A Swollen And Bruising Skin Post Injury?
My 16 yr old daughter was sledding and slide half way under a bobwire fence, it did rip her clothes and scratched her leg, it did not break skin but it is a little swollen and bruising a little as well. I have checked it several times and it did not break it at all
hi, a little swelling and bruising is common after any injury. its just body's reaction to injury. from the nature of injury described by you it seems to be a minor injury . you shouldn't worry much. however, 1.you should get her injected with inj. Tetanus toxoid 0.5 cc intramuscular if it's less than 24 hours since injury. 2. apply ice packs over and around the swelling 5-6 times a day for 10 min 3. give rest to the affected part 4. if pain is too much give her a mild analgesic like paracetamol or ibuprofen. things should be fine in 2-3 days. regards
