Should I Be Concerned If Child Has Headache And Excessive Sleepiness?

Hi, my 10yr old son started complaining this morning of a headache on the low back of his head next to the spinal cord. He said the pain started during the night. He states the pain comes and goes and has been very sleepy all day, which is not normal for him to sleep so much. How concern should I be.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM .
If there is excessive sleepiness in addition to head ache, it may be early stage of meningitis or missed head injury.
It is always better to consult pediatrician and rule out these conditions.
If it ordinary head ache analgesic like Meftal or ibuprofen will suffice.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose.
Any further questions invited.
