Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is no need to get worried as kidneys are normal in appearance and there is no obstruction to flow of urine. A urinary bladder volume of 27 cc is acceptable as children at that age cannot hold much urine. You may make him drink adequate amounts of water and fluids to avoid dehydration. He can continue with a normal diet suitable for age.

hi doc, I am 48 yr. old man and have a history of kidney stones. recently I have had a couple of UTI s. was prescribed Bactrim. I did get an ultra sound. both kidneys, no hydronephrosis, normal cortical thickness and no calcifications. prevoid urinary bladder volume 416 mL postvoid urinary bladder 129 mL prostate gland measured 3.9 x 3.5 x 3.3 cm. is this normal for my age? I did read a normal prostate gland should measure 4 x 2 x 3 cm. could my prostate be the cause of my problems? I do often feel I have to strain a bit sometimes to urinate, also seem to drip and use toilet paper on end of my penis to shake drips. should I be worried?

I have a 4 year old daughter who has had problems for the past 2 1/2 years and know can figure out what is wrong with her. Her symptoms started when she was 2 years old and she would cry that her back hurt in her car seat, so we tried 5 different car seats and she still complained. Then it progressed to her back hurting when she would be runnin, playing and sleeping. Now that she is older she can describe her symptoms more detailed. She has a hot sensation in her back and feet, she has parasthesis of bilateral legs and incontinence of urine and stool and belly pain. She is followed by a Neurology, GI, Nephrology, Urology, Nuerosurgery, Orthopedics, Pain service, Pain Psychologist and know can figure out what is wrong. She has had 2 MRI (normal), 2 CT scans (normal), Lasix scan (normal), Nuclear bone scan (normal), VCUG (normal), ultrasounds (hydronephrosis), urodynamic studies ( abnormal- showed multiple bladder spasms), multiple blood test and urine studies ( 2 24 hour urine studies showed high protein and urea 3rd was normal but not 24 hour) and Upper GI showed gastritis. Any ideas??

Lab results indicated blood in my urine. I have pain in my flanks and have been producing flake-like substances in my urine. My doctor ordered a CT scan and no kidney stones are visible. Any idea what this could be. The pain has been occurring for 1 week now.

I have a history of kidney stones. when i went to an urgent care the doctor saw a calcification in my bladder via xray. He also did an ultrasound which showed hydronephrosis. He put me on antibiotics incase I developed an infection. I saw my urologist and had another xray done which showed that the stone was gone. I am still having alot of pain on my right back/side and I am concerned about the hydonephorisis. I don t know if I need to go back to the doctor or if It s just sore because of everything it s been through.
