Should Duphaston Intake Be Discontinued During Pregnancy?

5th march was the first day of my partners last menstrual period, & she had an IVF done & the TRANSFER was done on 21 march. & she is pregnant with quadriplets with cardiac activity in 3 . That means she is carrying triplets. She was aake to stop taking duphastone tabs on 4th may. SO MY QUESTION IS , is it fine that she has stopper taking duphastone. & what if she again starts taking it , & continue taking it till 7th to 8th month of pregnancy twice a day ? Is it preferabel ?

Hi,

Duphaston is having estrogen. It is active female hormone useful in initial stages of pregnancy. It actually helps in the implantation of fertile ovum and development of the placenta. So it is indicated in the first trimester of pregnancy to prevent miscarriage.

No role of Duphaston after 1st trimester. So no need to continue Duphaston till the 7-8th month of pregnancy. She can continue Duphaston till 3 months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
