Should Azithromycin Be Taken With Mupirocin To Treat Red Rash?

Hi, two days ago I was bitten by some bug or insect, now I have a red rash with some blister. It was itchy at first but now I feel like a sting sensation. My primary physician prescribed mupirocin twice a day. I want to know if I should be taking azithromycin as well.

Hi

You seem to have developed an insect bite reaction.
In most cases, such a reaction tends to heal only on the application of a topical steroid- antibiotic cream combination.
However, in some cases, oral antibiotics or oral steroids have to be given along depending upon whether the area is infected or allergic.
So I would suggest you to see your doctor in person to discuss the need for the same since a direct examination of the area would be essential.
