Should Azithral Dosage Be Increased For Child's Cough And Fever?

Hi doctor,

My 4.6 year old son got high fever of 103.5 2 days back and doctor gave him meftal and Opox-cv 100. We gave him meftal 10 ml and Opox 5ml. After 15-20 mins, he throw up everything and fever was still 104 F. So we gave him sponge bath and again gave him 10 ml of Meftal. After 1 hr fever reduced but his upper lip , one eye got swollen. Upper lip was more swollen. So we rushed to doctor again. He changed the medicine. This time he gave crocin syrup and Azithral 200. The azithromycin is 40 mg. so my first concern is the allergy reaction occurred was from Opox or it was overdose of Meftal (10+10 ml)? My second concer us that we have been giving him Azithral 5ml once a day from last 2 days but symptoms still there like coughing, fever 100F. I was wondering that the dose is very mild for 5 yr old kid? Please respond. Thanks Raj

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, the child has been given half hazard treatment without knowing exact etiology this could cause unwanted side effects and it is not good to put the child on antibiotic if this is the allergic condition or viral infection then this would be better get al right without the anti biotic with the conservative treatment alone, now in my opinion better to get done the blood work instead of increasing the dose of antibiotic or changing the doctor or antibiotic, hope this information helps you ( better to consult pediatrician ) have good time.
