Should Atenolol Be Continued For Sinus Tachycardia?

I have been taking atenolol for 3 days now (25 mg) and don t like that I have extreme anxiety when it gets close to taking my next dose (4-5 hours before usually). Can I just stop taking it since I have only taken it for 3 days? I am taking it for sinus tachycardia, however I can t deal with the anxiety every day. Plus, my sinus tachy is episodic, so I don t have symptoms all the time.

Since you don't have symptoms all the time, you can stop taking atenolol. If your sinus tachycardia is due to anxiety, it can be treated with drugs which reduce anxiety. Since you have taken atenolol only for 3 days you can stop it abruptly. If you are taking more than a week, you should not stop atenolol abruptly and you have to gradually stop to avoid dangerous irregular heart beats.
