Shortness Of Breath, Sinus Issues, Swollen Nodule In Thyroid, Fluctuating BP. Cause Of Worry?

I have had shortness of breath for about 6 weeks now. My doctor cannot figure it out. I have sinus issues and my blood pressure I think is high because of this. It has been going up and down. I recently had an US on a nodule in my thyroid near the base of my neck . It was swollen about 3 weeks ago but it has gone back down. Now it s just marble sized. I am really concerned with the shortness of breath. It is keeping me from exercising and bicycling.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Kelley,

The causes of shortness of breath are many. It could be arising from a cardiac problem, lung problem, obesity problem and thyroid problem as well. The cause need to be ascertained here. You also seem to have a high blood pressure.

My suggestion for you would be to undergo an ECG, a stress test, chest x-ray to find out the possible cause. A spirometry of the lung will help as well.

Please discuss about these with your primary care physician and move ahead with the investigations. It is definitely not a benign condition to let go of it.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,
