Sharp pains below rib cage, nausea. Possible reason?

I have been getting sharp pains just below my rib cage for the past 8 hours. They seem to be getting stronger. I also have sickness. I haven t actually vommited yet but it feels like I m going to. Just wondering if you have any idea what s going on. My partner seems to think I m pregnant but I ve had a period & it doesn t feel like it did with my first pregnancy. Nicola
