hi julie
welcome to health care magic
if you are mentioning about gallstones, then it must be right side,,,?
please cross check with your medical history about APD( hyperacidity) and chronic irritable bowels?
usualy, the pain gets sorted with basic antacid which helps for gastric emptying and bowel motions, ultimately the gas domb gets relieved and one feels better
if it happens regularly, you must rule out the gastric pathology like APD, any liver involvment or even worms menifastation
and to rule our gallstones, sonogapphy is must

take care
