It is also very important to consider the hydration status of the baby. Do your best to make sure adequate fluids and foods are taken in. This will help avoid dehydration. Does he have any blood or mucus in the stool. In such a case this is called dysentery and antibiotics may be required. Is he passing watery stool? If he is having watery stool several times then he should be monitored for dehydration. Oral rehydration solution or any other solution containing salt and sugar should be given.
