Severe Pain In Groin, Arm Muscle. Unable To Walk, Lift Arm. Relief With Morphine. Leg Joints Still Stiff

Hi Doctor my name is Anne, I have been in unbearable pain for the last two weeks, the pain started in my right groin I didn't take a great deal of noticed then as the days went by the pain started in my left groin, then all of a sudden I woke up in so much pain, I was in so much pain I was having problem's walking, I eventually got down stairs and phoned the welfare centre who sent an ambulance and took me to hospital, my blood pressure was high so they gave me gas and air as they did say the pain could have sent it up. It did come down when I was in hospital they took bloods and gave me morphine sent me home a few hours later. But I was still in terrible pain, by this time pain was increasing in my arm muscles I could not lift my right arm without being in horrific pain, bearing in mind my legs were still not working, However I had been admitted three times last week as the pain felt like it was going full circle throughout my body, The doctor at the hospital told me not to phone the health clinic any more as I would just end up in A@E. So since the first attack my GPND has been out to see me 3 times, I was very distressed and still in the worse pain I have come across in my life. My GP has put me on morphine now my arms seem to be a bit better but I am still stiff in my leg joints does this sound like fibramailgia Thank you I hope you can answer this question for me,

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Based on the description of symptoms, it doesn't sound like Fibromyalgia to me. Most propably, you could be suffering with Acute polyarthragia involving multiple joints at the same time. The causes for this condition are many and a detailed clinical examination followed by appropriate investigations are needed to establish the exact cause of your symptoms.

So, I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
