Severe Pain And Difficulty In Passing Stools. History Of Constipation. No Help From Milk Of Magnesia. Suggest For Relief

I am really having trouble moving my bowels. I've suffered from constipation before but never to this extent. Last night I was in real pain because I was straining very badly to go. I pushed and tried breaking up the feces with toilet paper, but didn't really help much. Every time I got up thinking I was finished, I felt as if it wasn't time yet but no feces ever came out. I tried Milk of Magnesia, but feel it only made it worse, b/c I had to go but it's so painful that I couldn't bear keep trying. I was told to try Magnesium Citrate, but I'm scared this wont work, and I will still have pain. What do you suggest? I just want relief!

hi,
The anal area must have bruised,swollen & painful due to manu=ipulations.
*Please foment the part by sitting in a moderately hot water tub,-twice a day.
*Apply antibiotic ointment to sooth & prevent infection.
* oral anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen-paracetamol combination twice a day after food may be taken.
*use Glyserine enema or suppository before before motion next time.
*Eat plenty of fibrous food ( lots of vegitabls,salads,fruits -with skins where
ever possible,sprouts,)
*Take castor oil 4-8 tea spoons with half cup of tea before going to sleep in night today.The dose to be adjusted according to the motion you have in the day.
* Get the stools examined for any organism/parasite.
* consult a physician for assessment of the findings & treatment plan.
* Cultivate a habit of daily 45 minutes walk, Yoga exercises,abdominal exercises.
* cultivate habit of drinking 2 big glasses of luke- warm water first thing in morning.Drink 10-12 glasses of water/liquids in a day.
* take purgative in adjusted dose at bed time regularly for one month( lactulose,ispaghula husk,liquid paraffin. 2 table spoons of Aloevera syrup ( Kumari asav) with a cup of warm water helps.
*Eat plenty of fibrous food ( lots of vegetabls,salads,fruits -with skins where ever possible,sprouts,) .
* cultivate the habit of passing motion at a fixed time daily.
Change n life style, medicines as per Doctors advice, & a constant endeavour should remove the trouble en root.

Use of bulk purgatives like Isupgul/Psyllium fibre supplements along with stool softeners like Docusate will help relieve the pain by softening the faeces.A essential factor is adequate fluid/water intake as that is also required to soften the stools.Use of whole grain bread and other foods which have a high fibre content,plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits will also help along with regular exercise.Your Physician/doctor can rule out any anal fissure which may be causing pain ,application of local soothing creams (used before passing motions) containing lignocaine may help relieve the anal pain.
