Severe Knee Pain, Pain On Straightening The Leg. What To Do?

Hi, I m 18 and I m really active, I go to the gym nearly every day. Lately I ve been waking up with knee pain , like I can t straighten it all the way, but it goes away after i move it or walk on it. I feel stupid not working out because it gets better almost instantly, but does that mean that something is wrong with it? What should I do?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The mild knee stiffness you are feeling can be due to a muscle stiffness or a minor joint inflammation. In case the knee joint gets locked then a ligament tear needs to be ruled out. You can start with mild anti inflammatory like acetaminophen for relief.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
