Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
If I were your treating physician for this case of severe heart burn I would come up with followings,
1 The first and most important reason of this may be due to Hyper acidity or
peptic ulcer or
Hiatus Hernia.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy .
Try raising the head of your bed about 4 inches with blocks . It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down.
To help control the stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolate or spicy or fatty food or OVEREATING ( as may be in your case due to overeating of rice).
Also take some antacid ,if severe symptoms then take
proton pump inhibitor as
omeprazole ( prilosec ) , you are taking.
Rantidine's side effect is dizziness , so don't use it.
I suggest you consult a physician and get an
ultrasound , upper left side of abdomen with upper G I endoscopy .
Good luck.
Dr. HET
