Severe Headache. Taken Metamizole, Heard This Medicine Has Side Effects. Anything To Worry?

Hello, I am in Russia right now. Yesterday I had an awful headache , and I took a tablet of Metamizole (500mg) that someone gave me. It helped the headache, but I later learned that this medicine is banned in the US and many other countries because of the risk it carries of agranulocytosis. Should I be worried? Can one tablet harm me? Should I seek a hospital? Thank you so much!

Hello,
I understand your condition, first of all don't worry. I think you should know that the incidence rate of metamizole induced agranulocytosis is between 0.2 - 2 cases per million person days of use. i don't think a single tablet can result in agranulocytosis. However still if you are in doubt you can contact the nearest doctor for help.

Wish you good health,
Thank you.
