Hello!

Hair fall can be reduced by judicious use of medicines. The medicines need to be prescribed by a doctor after assessment of the cause of your hair fall. Although male pattern baldness is the commonest cause of hair loss in adult men, it is by no means the only cause. So, avoid self medication.

If your hair loss has been diagnosed as male pattern minoxidil may help in reducing hair loss. It is one of the two FDA approved medicines for male pattern baldness. It is available in various strengths and it would be best to let a doctor decide on that. Also keep in mind that minoxidil itself may cause further drying of hair.

As far as dry hair and scalp are concerned, you can use a light oil before bed and wash it off in the morning. Also make a habit of using hair conditioner after wash. Do not avoid washing your hair because it can aggravate hair fall.
Hair transplants if conducted properly do not have any major side effects. However, you must talk to your doctor in detail before undertaking such procedure.
