Severe Hair Fall. Detected Vitamin D Deficiency. On Homeopathic Treatment. Advice

Hello doctor,
I am suffering severe hair fall and I am taking homeopathy medicine. My doctor had done some tests to find out the root cause of hair fall. From which we came to know that hair fall is due to vitamin D deficiency. My vitamin d is 4.86. She has given me few medicines and R 89 for hair fall. But I don,t find much difference. I told her that also and she says that bcoz my vitamin d is too lest it will take some time to cure. I am taking medicine for almost a month. Please advice.

hello and welcome to HCM,
Hair fall may be genetic or may be due to under-nutrition.
In hair fall due to under-nutrition, the hair roots weaken and hence break easily.
The strength of the hair roots is maintained by proteins which are building blocks of body.
Vitamin D is the not the sole agent responsible for maintaining hair strength.
Vitamin D deficiency has to be corrected by taking vitamin D supplements.
However, to increase the strength and vitality of your hair, the content of proteins has to be maintained.
External agents do not help much in hair fall.
However, regular oiling can prevent drying of hair and hence hair fall.
If all these measures fail, you need to try drug preparations. Minoxidil is the medication commonly used to prevent hair fall.
But it should only be used after consulting your doctor as there are some contraindications for its use.

1. apart from vitamin D deficiency, do check with your calcium level, because without NORMAL vitamin D level, there is no absorption of calcium from the gut resulting in calcium deficiency and hair loss!
2. apart from laboratory investigations any undue mental-emotional stress (lack of sleep), any celiac diasease?
3. because vitamin D is required for hair follicle cycling, thus deficiency leads to one phase getting longer and other being shortened.
4. take: carrots,radish,tomato,mustard leaves,mint,coriander,amla, soybean, cucumber,cabbage,(Vit.D fortified pineapple,yogurt,milk,dry mushrooms), banana,cod liver oil,sunshine.
5. prescription drugs available are: muktadi vati, coral oxide, ashwagandharishta, septilin, amalaki rasayan.

Dear madam,

I think you should follow your doctors advise . It will take time to show results. Start taking biotin tablets.
