Severe Constipation, Pain In The Lower Abdomen, Chills, Bloated Stomach. Causes?

IT STARTED YESTERDAY, I HAD A BOWEL MOVEMENT IN THE MORNING BUT I STRAINED TO HAVE IT. LATER IN THE EVENING, i COULD HARDLY WALK. I HAVE PAIN AND CRAMPING ON MY LEFT LOWER SIDE OF MY ABDOMEN . I WENT HOME AND WENT TO BED...I DID HAVE CHILLS FOR AWHILE BUT IT WENT AWAY. .DURING THE NIGHT I WOULD WAKE UP FROM PAIN WHEN I CHANGED POSITIONS. THIS MORNING I DID HAVE ANOTHER BOWEL MOVEMENT, BUT I STILL HAVE PAIN WHEN I WALK. RIGHT NOW, MY STOMACH IS GLOWLING AND I M BLOATED AND FEEL I HAVE TO PASS GAS BUT I CAN T.

Hi,

Sudden pain on left lower side of abdomen, need to strain at passing stool and chills is most probably indicative of a condition called diverticulitis.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways:
First of all, get an opinion of a Doctor and if required get an appointment of a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, examination and further investigations.
CT scan of abdomen helps a lot.
Tests of stool, blood and urine.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus can be started on an appropriate antibiotic, metronidazole and so on.
usually this is manageable by a long course of an antibiotic hence surgery is the last resort only if the medical treatment fails or if there is any complication like local abscess collection and so on.
