Hello,I was at the barber shop yesterday and the barber was lining up my hair and pushed too hard with the clippers and a got a little nick that broke through the first layer of skin. Do I need to be worried about hep c transmission? It did bleed out a little and felt like a paper cut. I washed it out as soon as I got home, and put antibacterial ointment . It is closed today ad still hurts a little to the touch. Just thought I would check on your thoughts, thanks.
Since it was an unsterile clipper, used by your barber, therefore the chances of infection are higher, if not already infected (you said it pains when touched)
The best way to approach is to go to your local practitioner, who would prescribe you an oral antibiotic for a week. My choice of an oral antibiotic would be one from the penicillin group (e.g Amoxycillin) OR cephalosporin group (e.g cephalexin).
Topical antibacterials can be continued as before.
Regards
