Salty Taste In Mouth, Numbness In Face, Sinus Dripping. Filled Tooth Cavity. Suggestions?

Hi Doc,
I hate to bother you on a Monday morning, but I think I have a problem. I have had a really salty taste in my mouth for over a week. I thought it was from the dentist on the 9th, he filled a cavity. But since then I have also experienced numbness on the left side of my face, my left eye keeps tearing up, my left sinus keep dripping, and I have some drooling issues when I brush my teeth. Is this something I should be concerned with or will it just go away? My BP is ok.
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Robert

Hello Robert welcome to HCM,

I have understood your problem and let me assure you that it is commonly seen and you have nothing to worry about.

Salty taste, sinus drip and numbness after a cavity filling can be due to both anesthesia and also because sinusitis. Furthermore, sinusitis is known to be aggravated by dental procedures.

You may start a course of antibiotics like amoxycillin-clavulanate 625 twice daily for five days along with pain killer like paracetamol after food. Your doctor will know about these.

Also perform steam inhalation and do not take anything cold but take plenty of fluids preferably warm

If after about two weeks which is the usual time it lasts, if you are not feeling better then you must take a CT of the nose and sinuses and get back to me or any ENT

Take care and get well soon
