Safe To Take Thyrowel For Hypothyroidism During Pregnancy?

hello doctor,
my name is molly bhardwja and iam 7weeks pregnent . recently my doctor said that i have hypothyrodism with T3-104,T4-8.3 and TSH level is 6.84 and after that she perscribe me thyrowel medecine for 10 days. so, my question is should i worry for hypothyodism or it will be treated by said medicine.

Hi Molly,

Your TSH levels are above the permissible levels for pregnancy. Thyrowel is just a health supplement ( containing Iron, calcium, vitamins etc).
You should be taking Thyroxine as well. It is very important now to keep your TSH levels < 2.5 . This is the time when your baby's brain develops and thyroid hormone is very important for that. Taking Thyroxine is absolutly safe in pregnancy. You may meet an endocrinologist for further advice.
