Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Generally, protruding implants from fracture fixation will cause painful soft tissue rheumatism owing to the movements of the overlying muscles on the metal screws.

If the xray shows good consolidation of the fracture, the offending screws & plates can be removed.

Anyway, the decision whether to retain or remove the implant will be better judged by your treating doctor.

So, approach your treating physician and discuss the issues.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
