Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a robotic hyster 4 weeks ago. I was doing really good and decided to go back to work since I have a sit-down job. On Wednesday of this week, I was so tired and fatigued but "stupid" me went to work on Thursday. I cried the whole way home and stayed in bed all day on Friday. I'm worried I have done something inside. My abdominal hurts and I am not regular. About once a year I have a bout with diverticulitis and I am wondering if this is the case. I eat really well but not walking as much as I should. Any suggestions?
Its hard to suggest anything as you havent even mention where is your pain located and if there are any other symptoms. Generally after every surgery there is a risk of fluid collection inside the abdomen (pus or blood). This should always be ruled out if abdominal pain appears after some time from surgery. Other possible symptoms of such fluid accumulation is fever, bloating, nausea, diarrhea or constipation.
Diverticulitis usually gives lower left abdominal pain and I`m pretty sure you can discriminate diverticulitis pain from other pain (as you have had it before). I hope that you know what diverticulitis can turn into. Sooner or later, diverticles inflammation will cause intestine perforation. That is why, when diverticulitis keeps recurring, surgery and intestine removal is advisable.
I suggest you to visit your doctor and have blood work (CBC), CRP level, urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound done. Please consult general surgeon and consider further surgery of your large intestine.
Hope this will help. Regards.
