Rib Cage Sometimes Feels Tight. BP And Heart Rate High. What Can Be The Cause?
Hi I have a question. I have this pain on the left side under my rib cage. It also sometimes feels tight right in my upper middle chest and also have a sharp pain through my stomach area but not often. It almost feels like my heart is beating right through my chest on left side under ribs. I took my bp and it was 165/100 with heart rate of 86. Any suggestions,
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Do you have fever, difficulty in breathing, squeezing sensation in chest, acidic belching, abdominal heaviness?
Chest pain, sharp in nature suggests underlying lung pathology.
But other possibilities can't be ruled out such as heart and gastric pathology.
You should consult with physician and should go for chest x ray and ECG as preliminary investigations.
As you have high BP, there is possibilities of effect on heart also.
If any doubt, then you should go for 2 D echo and coronary angiography.
You should also go for endoscopy if abdominal symptoms are simultaneously present.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
